Event Description

5-Day Vipassana (fully booked)

This Vipassana course is fully booked, but you can still join the waiting list by sending an email to info@naropa.eu. You can also participate online. More information about the online participation can be found in the agenda.

Vipassana means insight and seeing. Insight into your true nature.
Who you really are comes to light. This light is your true nature.
Vipassana awakens this. But also all the clutter that is stuck.
Naropa’s approach to vipassana is not heavy or serious.
The observation of breathing or thoughts has given way to merging with the breathing.
Through this, love awakens. Love is the manifestation of consciousness.
It is coming home and staying home. It takes you from duality to being, and from being to non-being.
Integration plays an important role. Meditation is not something that takes place outside of life, but rather something that is completely connected to it.

Combined with the Gayatri Mantra, walking meditations and daily sharings with Naropa, this retreat presents a powerful path to awakening.

During the retreat, we remain in complete silence. Therefore, we do not use phones, books, writing or other distractions during these days. Everything is aimed at turning inward, so that you can meet yourself in a direct and unfiltered way.

⚠️ People who have a tendency towards psychotic experiences or who are addicted to alcohol or drugs are advised against coming to a retreat or other long programme! If you still wish to come, you must contact Naropa about this. We take no responsibility for people who disregard this advice.

Frequently asked questions

How can I attend the event online?

If you are unable to attend in person, you can participate online via ZOOM. More information about the online participation can be found in the agenda.

Do I need previous meditation experience?

No, you do not need any specific meditation experience to participate. However, Naropa recommends practicing seated meditation daily in the weeks leading up to the retreat, so that you can become more familiar with sitting and turning inward.

What does the daily schedule look like?

A retreat day usually starts at 07:30 and ends around 21:30. The daily schedule includes several periods of seated meditation (between 45 and 60 minutes), walking meditation, Gayatri Mantra, three meals a day, evening sharing, and seva.

Seva means selfless service. Everyone contributes during the retreat and is assigned a specific task, such as making coffee, vacuuming, or serving food. Upon arrival, you will be informed which seva task has been assigned to you.

What are the start and end times of the retreat?

On the arrival day, check-in is at 17:00 and the opening session starts at 20:00. The retreat ends on the departure day at around 17:00.

Is meditation equipment available at the location?

There are sufficient chairs and some meditation cushions available. If you would like to use a meditation stool, you will need to bring your own. We also recommend bringing your own meditation cushion and a blanket.

Can I request a specific diet?

The meals are always vegetarian. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate dietary preferences or make adjustments to the meals. If you require a specific diet for medical reasons, you can indicate this when registering. We will then contact you to discuss your request. If your medical dietary request is approved, an additional fee of €25 will be charged.

A vegan diet is not possible at all retreats, as we sometimes work with a Vedic chef who uses ghee in the preparation of all dishes. If this is the case, it will be stated in the agenda.

When will I receive all the practical information?

Approximately three weeks before the retreat, you will receive an email with all the practical information, including arrival times, accommodation, what to bring, the final daily schedule, the location, and more.
